Jesus declared peace, instead it is hidden

I will begin a few studies from the book of Luke 19:41-44.  This is part one.  More will come.

Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Jesus comes into this area and His heart is broken. His own received Him not.....He declares they can have peace in verse 42. The kingdom of God was before them, provided by He Himself, if His covenant people would accept Him as the Messiah.
Instead of peace, instead of the Kingdom of God, judgement is ahead. All of it because of the unbelief of this covenant people.

Verse 43 the declaration is one that "thine enemies shall cast a trench  about thee and compass them, and keep them on every side."  Enemies will surround Jerusalem and destroy the city.

Verse 44, they didn't not know the time of thy visitation.  No recognition of the appearance of the Messiah and the Kingdom he was presenting to them. Their response was improper, and unacceptable to Jesus' offer.  Salvation and restoration was available.   They could have had peace, they could have had the Kingdom, it was there in front of them, but Israel refused. The kingdom blessings promised in the Old Testament, peace, spiritual salvation, and prosperity for Jerusalem. She refused. It is settled.

The offer was for them all to repent which would bring them peace, but get it in your mind, also unbelief would lead to the judgement of each one.....national peace or national judgement.

The blessing is linked to the acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah, and His kingdom come. So now we understand why Jesus wept over these......their unbelief is on a national level and separated them from the kingdom and blessings of the Kingdom. They will be held accountable for their unbelief.
They knew not the time of their visitation.
